Ghior (Town) consists of two mouzas. The town has an area of 4.24 sq km and a population of 5882; male 53.5%, female 46.5%. Literacy rate among the town people is 53%. It has one dakbungalow. Administration Ghior thana was established in 1919 and was turned into an upazila in 1983. It consists of 7 union parishads, 170 mauzas and 183 villages. Historical events During the War of Liberation war in 1971 forty one villagers including college principal Atiar Rahman were killed by the Pak Army on 22 November at village Terassree.
